Challenging a Decision on DLA

£2.00£0.50

If your DLA claim is rejected or you disagree with the rate awarded, you have the right to challenge the decision within 1 month of the decision letter. To challenge a DLA decision, you must submit a written 'mandatory reconsideration' request explaining why you disagree with the decision. If mandatory reconsideration is unsuccessful, you can lodge an appeal with the HM Courts and Tribunals Service within 1 month of their written decision. When challenging a DLA decision, provide supporting medical evidence, financial information, and statements from people familiar with the disability to strengthen your case.
